Encourage & Promote

educational performance in classroom

Encourage and Promote education performance. Studies have shown that rewarding or positive feedback and reinforcement results in an increase in performance vs. negative feedback or punishment for children.

Student Achievement

Identify students that are performing well in school. We aim to encourage students to continue their current behavior of performing well in school through rewards and positive reinforcement.

Rewarding Students

Our Inspiration

Laura's Gift Foundation

Laura’s Gift Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was started from the simple concept of “encouragement and support”.  As humans, we are affected by our natural character as well as the environment.  The environment brings about situations that exude our natural character.  And, as we all know, we have multiple environments and external influences that are impacting us.   Environment can have lasting effects in both positive and negative ways.

Growing up, there was a man in church that would give me $5 for every “A” and $4 for every “B” on the report card.  In addition, if making the honor roll, my dad would give $25.  This encouraged me to continue to make good grades as I looked forward to the reward.

In addition to these rewards received, I was raised by a woman that taught herself the Bible (and preached at some churches), many words in the dictionary and started an organization.  With this organization, she would raise funds that were used to help others pay bills or buy food.  Never once did she misuse those funds for personal reasons, even though we didn’t have much ourselves.  From her, I learned integrity, morals, perseverance, wisdom, encouragement, will-power, moving forward, and what it means to be a “Human” and treat everyone else as you treat yourself.

Her name…………Laura.

Effects on Punishment vs. Rewards on student academic achievement

States with the longest history of forbidding corporal punishment, resulted in ACT improvement rates three times higher than states with frequent use of corporal punishment (Human Rights Watch).  Extrinsic Rewards inspire students to continue to self-motivate and excel in academic achievements.

  • Punishment – Significant Effect
  • Intrinsic Reward – Intangible - No Effect
  • Extrinsic Reward – Tangible – Significant Effect
